Project purpose
To analyse the spread of gas in case of its explosion

We have completed several major plant scanning projects in Mongstad Refinery. The facilities have been scanned, the scans have been registered and optimized using the software developed in-house. Some areas have also been clash checked against the client’s proposed design. Optimised point clouds were used in MicroStation, PDS and PDMS. The detailed point cloud made it possible for the engineers to work on detail engineering. The 3D model was used to analyse the spread of gas in case of its explosion. Statoil plans to order further scanning of the refinery to update the PDMS model of the whole area.
